Can UK couples get married in Morocco?

Many couples are choosing Marrakech for their sunshine destination wedding. Morocco is a great place to say ‘I Do’ There’s sunshine and the most beautiful venues to fulfill all tastes, from stunning palaces and Riads to rustic farms and gardens.

The weddings we plan for international couples are all symbolic rather than legal. Legal requirements from UK citizens are very complex and it is more advisable to complete the legalities in your country of residence beforehand.

Expert advice when planning a Morocco wedding

For a Marrakech wedding, we select different venues depending on the seasons and temperatures. We generally suggest an end of afternoon ceremony working back 2 hours before the sunset to have lovely light for portrait photography and for guests to enjoy pre-dinner cocktails at the sunset golden hour. We like to work with local artisans to incorporate a local touch for decor, gifting and favours.

When is the best time of year to get married in Morocco?

The most popular months are May and June, September and October – as the temperatures are lovely and warm, facilitating outdoor dining. However we host weddings all year round!

What are your favourite venues?

We plan many of our weddings at La Mamounia, the prestigious grand dame hotel of Marrakech. Its gardens date from the 12th century and are a spectacular setting for ceremonies and receptions. The Kasbah Bab Ourika is also very special, very rustic with amazing views of the Atlas Mountains.

About Boutique Souk– We are an Irish (me) and French (my husband, Fred) couple planning weddings in Marrakech since 2005. We also plan luxury sector events for companies including YSL, Chanel and Dior but the largest part of our business is planning weddings for couples of all nationalities and cultures.

We started planning weddings to help a hotelier friend of ours who introduced us and we fell in love and got married while working on other couples’ weddings! Although we are best known for our weddings in Marrakech and Morocco we have also enjoyed planning weddings in Ibiza and the South of France.
